Crushing On Colours

It’s the season of colours and looks like everybody is crushing on colours and filling up their wardrobe with only colours and colours. You’ve seen colours on dresses, blouses, shirts, even shorts, eh? They are quite overdone, over worn and over rated, not to say they are not trendy anymore but what’s catching fancy on the market currently are coloured denims. There are so many coloured denims on stacks; you can’t help mooning on them. Leaving aside the red and blue as they are kind of a usual suspect when it comes to coloured denims, there are these sultry yet intense shades you possibly can’t ignore - sweet candy pinks, cute mellow yellows, pretty soft greens and yes, the dullish grey (grey actually seems to be working on denims).
There are also some really colourful styles mixed with some trendy print like digital or animal and believe it - they are fad. You may not have imagined wearing a polka dotted pants or a snake print unless of course, you’ve got a fancy dress competition or a costume party to attend to. But let us break it out to you, mixed patterns multi-coloured denims are a totally go-go this season and are very likely to put you on a glamorous and uber-trendy spot. So load up your closet with as many different coloured denims as you can as they are worth shelling out every penny from your wallet. And if you’re confused about styling up with them or not quite certain about the right colours or tops or footwears to pair with, our little fashion tutorial should help you. Here it goes.

Fiery Red Coloured Denims: If you adore preppy look, pair it with a boat neck striped top in full sleeves and in monochrome pattern. Pick a pair of plimsolls or moccasins to match it with. Since sleek poker straight hair is trending currently, you could keep your hair straight with this look.

Rich Regal Blue Coloured Denims: A brick shade red top with cap sleeves and soft print in Aztec or digital could be a good combination with blue coloured denims. Sport t-strap wedges or gladiator shoes if you prefer flats. Natural bouncy hair with little waves would be an added glam factor.
Candy Pink Coloured Denims: Play sophisticated and ultra feminine with this shade. Team it up with a soft frilled detailed blouse or a Peter Pan collar top in off-white or really light lemon green shade. For the footwear, peep-toe wedges in sultry shade would be terrific. Or a cute pair of ballerinas could also do. Don up your hair in an elegant braid or classic curls.

Mellow Yellow Coloured Denims: Yellow signifies colour blocking trend. Pick the brightest colours to team with our dear dirty fellow, yellow. Think fuchsia, tangerine, emerald, indigo even neons if you dare to.  Go bright even on the footwear. No kidding. Just remember to keep your hair neat if you’re going loud on your outfit.

Sweet Green Coloured Denims: This is a very versatile colour so you can combine with various hues. Try coral shade blouse as they will bring out the best of green. Or you could even pair with a check print shirt in any shade. Lita shoes, pumps, wedges, thong sandals, gladiators are some footwear to look in to. A sweet ponytail or side-swept braid might add a trendy flair to the look.

It is the next go-to look for ingénues everywhere. With demure rounded flaps, Peter Pan collar is distinctive, feminine, delicate and super trendy. The name peter pan was derived from the costume worn by the actress who played Peter Pan in the 1905 American stage production of the famous play. Ever since then, Peter Pan collar surfaced as a trend that is highly adored by many fashion connoisseurs.

Peter Pan collar top has been reviewed as a one key piece that gives a high emphasis on any outfit you pull on. For instance, if you’re sporting basic denims and tennis shoes and you put on a Peter Pan collar top, the whole basic denims and keds look gets an upliftment and there is a stylish and elegant spin to the look.

This retro inspired piece comes in various designs; from peter pan collar tops to shirts, jackets, coats, dresses in different types and even solely the collar to add on. High on whim and effortlessly trendy, a Peter Pan collar wearer is one who loves the sweet, precious, girly and juvenile look.  If you adore this ladylike yet whimsical effect, then you should definitely incorporate a lot peter pan collars to your wardrobe. And here are a few ways to style up with peter pan.

Peter Pan Collar Shirt Paired With Trousers: This look can get you from work to social galas. All you have to do is switch shoes and may be bags. When you’re dressing for office, basic pumps would do otherwise for other affairs, opt for high heels pumps or any other high heel sandals.

Peter Pan Collar Top Paired With Denims: The ultimate classic look, especially when teamed with tennis shoes. Pick dark coloured skinnies and cap sleeved Peter Pan collar top and team with keds for a very dressed down look. Or pair full sleeved Peter Pan collar top with a light washed skinny jeans and brogue shoes or moccasins for a more dressy appeal. Other types of footwears would also go with this look.

Peter Pan Collar Dresses: Don a school girl look by pairing a Peter Pan collar dress and Mary Jane shoes. You could even pair with loafers. Try to find loafers that match with your dress. If you can’t find then try pairing with oxfords or brogues. They will set a very Ivy League school look. Now that’s something classy and regal. And, if you want to accessorize, pearls, headbands, hair bows can add a more feminine twist to the look.

Peter Pan Collar Top Paired With Shorts: This look will bring more edge and boldness to the delicate feminine peter pan. The combination of Peter Pan collar top and denim shorts would look awesome when teamed with combat boots and belt.

Glow In The Sun

It's summer and yes, the sun is scorching at such a level that it could rip off your skin and leave it all blemished and dead. Sometimes even the highest SPF content sun block lotions can’t help you much. The UV rays the sun produces especially in summers penetrate the deepest layers of skin and damages the collagen which is the spongy protein that gives skin its structure, firmness, and elasticity. So, you can imagine how much damage it can do to our skin. But fret not; we are here to help you get through the summer without getting even an inch of your skin damaged.

First step is to keep you refreshed. Stay hydrated most of the time. If you tire of drinking water all day long, eat fruits that have a substantial amount of water to keep you hydrated. Watermelon would be the best option. It’s delicious, refreshing and contains a considerably good amount of water.

Eating the right food: The scorching weather can leave your taste buds bland and you might not have much appetite but you’ve got to eat. Eat foods that are healthy and packed with loads of antioxidants. They do wonder for your skin. Opt for foods like yoghurt, green veggies, green tea, fresh fruits, whole grains, fish etc. Just include these foods in your diet and you’re sure to keep your skin protected and radiant at the same time.

Exercising: A light workout daily to sweat it out is an ideal way to getting a super clear and good skin. You need not hit the machines if you’re already in shape. You can do brisk walking, skipping or jog for a while. The trick is to get your sweat out. This will not only keep your skin healthy but keep you in shape and slow down the process of ageing.
Natural home treatments: There are so many home remedies to treat your skin. You can mix a lot of things to create a face pack.  You can even use some fruits to make it. Lemon is supposed to be an essential item to keep you glowing.  Honey mixed with cucumber juice also work wonder. Use your ideas and try the home therapies instead of spending your money going to the salons. It’s almost the same treatment; in fact natural home remedies are healthier and better.

Choosing the right sun block lotion: With plenty of cosmetics available in the market, it’s difficult to choose the right type for your skin. Select according to your skin type, non-greasy for the oily skin, moisturizer for the dry skin type and for normal, use anything. Now what’s important is the SPF content. If you’re stepping out in the peak afternoon when the sun is sweltering at a boiling point, use high level of SPF, 70 should do. Otherwis, use 20 to 50 for a normal temperature. What we personally recommend is coconut and mango scented lotion with a range of 40 to 60 SPF. Nothing spells summer more than a light refreshing fruity lotion.  The mistake most people make is -- you think you’ve applied a sunscreen once and it’s going to work the whole day. Well, you’re wrong. You need to reapply every time you step out because the heat wears off the lotion easily.
Summer Make-up: Nothing loud and nothing shiny.  Keep your make-up understated and use a proper summer-suited make-up kit. Imagine your face foundation turning all greasy and your eye make-up smudging and all over the place. You definitely want to avoid that, right? So choose wisely. We personally recommend L’Oreal products as they are sure to keep your face intact and at the same time give you that summer glow.

If you’re sure to incorporate these tutorials in your daily regime, expect a bright, healthy skin in no time.

Back To The 80's

The controversial 80’s fashion seems to demand attention this season.  Though shoulder pads and batwing sleeves are already out of the current fashion scenario, there are still some of 80’s remains that’s making fashionistas’ heart go pitter patter in delight. Mini skirts are one of them.  Then, wayfarer sunglasses, laces, neons, leggings, crop tops, over-sized tops and stone-washed denims to name a few.

Many have argued that fashion in the 80’s was too big, too loud and just plain too much but isn’t that what we dig for right now? Well, not completely but we could take some cues from there and try and reinvent a ’80s classic to look fresh and modern. So let’s take a trip down memory lane to review some of the biggest ’80s trends and see how they’ve influenced the style of 2013.

Neons: Many trendsetters are loving neons this season. Though in the 80’s neons were adorned in the most excessive and bold way, the modern take on neons are flatteringly apposite and have been given a fresh trendy twist to it.
Miniskirts: The concept then was “the shorter the better”. Well, the concept is still the same only patterns and silhouettes have been upgraded. Every woman of that era and the current era loves miniskirts. Even if some are not comfortable wearing solely the miniskirt, they wore it with tights or leggings underneath it.

Crop Tops: Denims and crop tops were a big thing back then and they are going to be a big thing too, this season. This is a look that screams sexy and feminine and at the same time bold and fierce.

Wayfarer sunglasses: A classic staple piece, wayfarers were the de facto sunglasses of choice for anyone and everyone who was cool in the '80s. Wayfarers are among the trendiest accessories of this season. They are classy, super trendy and highly sophisticated.
Leggings: Women loved to pull off the dance wear look with leggings. And, dancewear is making a comeback this season. Think Jane Fonda in the 80’s, how she rocked the dancewear look. Throw in a over-sized top and team up with your leggings.

Overalls: They are making it back with a bang. Overalls were the most worn and wanted items in the 80’s. Almost everybody wore it, kids, women, men, grannies, uncles etc. They are very casual and comfortable and also give a very trendy outlook especially the ones that have been designed for this season.

Well, we hope these remains of the 80’s served a nostalgic blast from the past and a friendly reminder that they are still stuck on the current fashion radar and are here to stay around longer.
