About Ebony Bistro

What strikes you most about Ebony Bistro at the Garuda Mall is the sheer energy of the restaurant. Here is a restaurant with bright cheerful décor, filled with sunshine and more than anything else filled with happy diners. A peppy selection of retro music only adds to the buzz. Adorning the walls is a fantastic cartoon mural by one of Bangalore’s favourite sons, Paul Fernandes, that takes a gentle, loving poke at our city’s idiosyncrasies. A great pastime here as you wait for the food to be served is to try and recognize the people and places being lampooned in the mural.

Ebony Bistro brings with it some impeccable pedigree. On the one hand it is the ever popular old Legend of Sikandar that has been re-christened with this new name. Yet, happily, the old Sikandar menu is still very much in existence. Also making their appearances on the menu are a fine selection of European and South Asian classic dishes from their parent restaurant, Ebony’s menu. Ebony has been getting European food and Asian food absolutely spot-on for the past sixteen years and those are hard won colours indeed. As a result, the menu , in spite of being compact, really works with one half being Kebabs and Curries and Biryani from the Sikandar repertoire and the other being half being European and Asian starters, mains and desserts.

The dinner crowd is an mix of movie-goers who are catching an early dinner or looking for something to top up their popcorn with, shoppers and the a clutch of old Sikandar loyalists who have made the trip just to tuck into some Galouti kebabs, the Gosht Potli Qorma or their amazing Biryanis. Then there are the much loved Ebony standards such as the Thai Curries and stir fries, the French Onion soup, the Shepherd’s Pie, the vegetarian Mousakka and a range of pastas and grills.

But the real draw here is the special 3 pm to 7 pm menu which is funky mix of burgers, sandwiches, wraps, desserts and Italian style coffees. A real crowd puller, this menu transforms the place to a casual hangout among Gen X.

Lunches feature buffets that are an absolute steal with some of Sikandar’s best kebabs, curries and biryanis being featured. Apart from the usual busy professional on the run for whom this lunch holds obvious appeal, this buffet also is a thrifty treat for the house-wife out on a guilty shopping expedition or ever-ravenous youngsters.

So hurry up and get your koov now from www.koovs.com
