Watch Your Time

Fastrack, the Titan initiative in 1998 paid off in 2005, when it became an independent watch company targeting the urban youth of the country. The pristine, in vogue designs appealed to the younger masses as the models are tailored to the taste of the fresh blood. Along with refreshing designs, Fastrack assured that this funky fashion did not burn a hole in the pockets.

The origination of the brand itself was a revolution, a style statement that transformed and defined the requirements of the younger ones in the market. Their initiation forced others brands and companies to change the models, and come with innovative, out of the box designs.

Fastrack has designs for every personality, be it elegantly casual, stark and bold, a changing design to meet the daily fashion craving, sturdy adventurous models, or their infamous bulky army designs. There is no limit to these avant-garde designs, one can incorporate any look they desire, and Fastrack would not fall short. They have it all.

Tribute to Legend

An unparalleled versatile singer is the only way one can describe Kishore Kumar, affectionately known as Kishore Da. This legend was also an actor, a lyricist, a composer, a producer, a director, a screenwriter and a scriptwriter, but his unadulterated ardour for music guided his singing such, that it came to him as easy as laughter.

A voice so soulful, through all genres of music he touched hearts and added to the Golden Age of Indian music. Be it his yoodlies that share the utter joy of living or be the poignant
songs like Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai, Pal Pal Dil ke Paas, Hum Bewafaa or Dream Girl the songs continue to live. Mostly, the task for anyone is to decide as to which one of his songs is much-loved with a unanimous and inconclusive consciousness that one undoubtedly cannot pick merely one song. The list is literally as long as the record of his songs.

Kishore Da’s achievements have outlived him, even in today’s time and age his peerless gossamer style gets the young and old humming alike. To relive his legendary music, Shaan pays an accolade to the enthralling music created and the prodigy that is immortal in every sense on Friday, Nov 25, 2011 at Palace Grounds (Gayatri Vihar).

Day 3: Fun Goes On…

                  “There's music in the sighing of a reed;
                   There's music in the gushing of a rill;
There's music in all things, if men had ears:
Their earth is but an echo of the spheres.”
                                         -Lord Byron

The Day 3 of TGIOF was the most awaited and highly hyped event of this year for its renowned International and national music artists lined up to perform live. Poets Of The Fall was the highlight of the The Great Indian October Fest. Music lovers and fans from all over the country came to Bangalore just to watch it perform. International DJs Super8 & Tab were other favorites of the crowd.

Adam & Fish Eyed Poets opened the day with their lovely blues, followed by alternative/rock by Goddess Gagged, mind-blowing Metal by Jagged Surge, beautiful Sufi Rock by PralayH, Rock/Heavy Metal, Reggae, Hiphop by Molotov Cocktail, Little Babooshka’s Grind, Lou Majaw & Friends, Kryptos, Rock by Finnish Band Poets Of The Fall, House & Trance by International DJs Super8 & Tab, and Bollywood by DJ Chico with visuals by VJ Kaycee.

People thronged the stage to get a closer look at their beloved artists and danced to their tunes. With beer in hand, friends to accompany, open air field to roam around, people forgot all bonds and became one with the music. They shopped at the flea market, bought funky wigs, hats and various headdresses, savored exquisite cuisines at the food court all the while gliding with the music and getting drunk on the elixir of life – Beer.

Bangalore witnessed a musical phenomenon at a time when it’s live performances & night life is in danger. The Great Indian October Fest brought with it a new hope, a promise of unlimited Fun, Beer and Music, a revival of its fiery spirit. The city now eagerly awaits its return.

Day 2 - Fun Continues…

“Without music life would be a mistake” - Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

Electrifying music, sheer raw energy and unlimited flow of beer hardly describes the scene at the second day of TGIOF at KTPO. After performing for the insatiable Bangalore crowd on day 1, the bands & artists lined up for day 2 left the crowd begging for more. British Rock band Killer Queen U.K.(A tribute band to Queen), International Trance & Electro Queen DJ Claudia, Indie – Rock, Alternative Rock, Reggae, Metal, Progressive artists like Eka, Indus creed, Rabbi Shergill, Junkyard Groove, Slingshot, Pitch BlackSymphony, Tough on Tobacco, Live Banned, Chronic Blues Circus took Bangaloreans by a storm and hit them hard with astounding musical acts.

Rabbi Shergill’s Bulla ki Jaana was most acclaimed with the crowd shouting for more. International female DJ Claudia gave the crowd a sizzling hot trance, pleading her to go on. Remixes played by Killer Queen once again brought up the energy levels of the crowd with people rocking to the music in masti.
If live performances weren’t enough to get the crowd in frenzy, there were racing games, flea market and party items like funky wigs, glares, colorful hats, devil horns, angel halos and more. All around people were dressed in party attires, sporting a funky hat, wig or headdress, carrying mugs of beer, chatting with friends or just lightly swaying to the music

People went back expecting another day of fun and fiesta, promising each other to return again next day, to drink some more and dance to the tunes of Poets of the Fall, Super8 & Tab, Kryptos, Goddess gagged, Jagged Surge, Molotov Cocktail, Adam & Fish Eyed Poets, DJ Chico and more.

Day 1 - Fun Begins..

“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life” - Berthold Auerbach
The 7th edition of The Great Indian October Fest created hype even before it started. It was majorly because of its Band line ups, the Beer, and the venue. Hosted at KTPO, in an open air field, away from the hustle of the city, the place looked like a village’s colorful carnival with its flea market, exotic cuisines at the food court, various games, and party items like funky hats, wigs & headdress, attractive souvenirs.

The first day opened with live performances by Hiphop & Reggae Band – Bombay Bassment, Rock by Bicycle Days, amazing Indo-Jazz by Amit Heri, classic Carnatic Rock by Motherjane, House by Ash Roy & Ashvin from Jalebee Cartel, and Bollywood/House by Ram Sampath & DJSuketu

After a great start, the crowd went crazy soaring to the tracks from Delly Belly performed live by its composer & singer Ram Sampath. The music and the energy combined with intoxicating Beer were infectious. There wasn’t a single soul who wasn’t dancing or laughing, in short the fun was in the air! DJ Suketu took it up a notch with his eternal Bollywood & House remixes, bringing the crowd to frenzy that was insatiable and enthralling.

With the shouts of ‘once more’, the day ended with a promise of much better tomorrow, just a night away.

Storming Bollywood: Ram Sampath

Ram Sampath LIVE @ TGIOF 2011

Dk Bose is a song that all have either been singing, or talking about. This piece of music splashed Ram Sampath on charts overnight. But is that all that is there to the musician?  Sampath comes from an advertising background, where he primarily worked with jingles. But his hit number has not only bagged him movies but a spot in one of the greatest music events of the year, TGIOF 2011. All this put together is nothing less than an icicle on a cheesecake.
The recurring thought and question is that, the most known creation of this artist is Dk Bose, but the slot means time enough for a lot more than one number. The audiences are eagerly waiting to see what other numbers this man is going to leave them with.
Will there be captivating beats and lyrics of the sorts of Dk Bose, or sounds that vary like the artist’s experience to go along the Beer this October?

The Blues Bogeyman: Lou Majaw and Friends

Lou Majaw and Friends LIVE @ TGIOF 2011
Except for his absolute devotion to Bob Dylan in his music, Shillong's legendary bluesman Lou Majaw is nothing like the sombre American folk icon in form. It takes a while to get over the colourful spectacle that Lou Majaw is on stage right from the fluorescent green beads around his neck that look like an extension of his fitting neon green sleeveless Tee to his denim hot pants and mismatched bright yellow and orange socks.
For a 63 year-old, Majaw is in his prime, delivering covers such as Let The Good Times Roll with growl and an evocative Khasi (Meghalaya's regional language) number with equal finesse. Majaw, accompanied by a spirited band of Shillong-based musicians who were half his age, is also a generous musician. These powerful music warriors come from the Abode of the Clouds to form the energetic Lou Majaw and Friends, with areas of music ranging from Folk, Country, Blues, Rock n Roll, Rock and Reggae.
If you want fun on tap, make sure you don’t miss Majaw's next gig at TGIOF 2011,  this November.

Messing Around with DJ Chico

DJ Chico LIVE @ TGIOF 2011
DJ Chico found his calling, as a child, messing around with some records. He knew then, as he knows now, that that was love at first sight! At a young age in the UK he had plenty of opportunities to groom his talent, beginning with small private parties and moving to the larger, enhanced shows with every weekend.
Chico fell in love with the art of making people dance, while he played with other performers in the following years. One thing, he can indubitably do is make anyone or anything move to his music. For an entire year in the 90’s he played at Swigs, the former Earthquake in Mumbai and toured with Media companies like Channel V, partying with and playing for large crowds and TV stars.
There is no stopping henceforth, he has entertained artists like Akon, Eddy Grant, Deep Purple, Enrique Iglesias, Bryan Adams, The Rolling Stones, & The Scorpions at their post show parties.
In addition, he not only had the privilege of performing alongside Lionel Richie for Vijay Mallya’s 50th Birthday celebrations, but also is seen at all Kingfisher events across the world. There is no known reason why he would be excluded from this annual Beer bash moniker, The GreatIndian October Fest (2011).
